Enterprise Zone (E-Zone) was established in 2010 to allow the members of Forward Day Centre to gain training and practical work experience as they prepare for future employment and independent living. E-Zone offers a wide range of services from their factory unit – on the North Lynn Industrial Estate.
E-zone Programmes include:
– Voluntary placements,
– Writing CVs and Interview skills,
– Health and Safety,
– Design and woodwork,
– T-shirt, mug, and personalised gift printing,
– Candle, jewellery, and card making,
– Crafts and Photography.
Our members are able to experience a real working environment that includes programmes in design, manufacturing, and retail. Members learn many skills including answering the phone, good customer relations, and health and safety in the workplace. All of the activities include embedded skills in numeracy and literacy. With the assistance of our support workers, they create beautiful and unique gifts which can be purchased at E-Zone or in the Funky Gift Shop. All money raised through the sales of these products allows us to continue running the E-Zone service, buy new materials or necessary tools for our members.
